Pier Glitch - Get To Other Islands Early!

In GTA Vice City: The Definitive Edition, it's possible to use a glitch / exploit to gain access to other islands early. There are some benefits to this which can make the story missions slightly easier as it allows you to collect hidden packages, unlocking powerful weapons at your hideout. You can also complete a number of side missions earning plenty of cash and even purchase and use safehouses on each island.

Step 1: Find an Ambulance

This glitch is easiest with an Ambulance. They're very easy to jump on top, allowing you to use them to reach higher places on foot.

Step 2: Make your way to the docks

Assuming you grabbed an Ambulance from the hospital at the South-East of the first island, follow the road South and then East to the docks. Once there, you'll see that access to the pier is blocked off by a metal fence.

Step 3: Park the Ambulance

Turn the Ambulance around and reverse it so the back of the Ambulance is flush against the fence.

Step 4: Jump on top of the Ambulance

Run and jump at the front of the Ambulance and you should quite easily be able to make it onto the hood, then jump up again and land on the roof.

Step 5: Jump Through The Fence!

Once you're on top of the Ambulance, jump towards the metal fence. This might take a few tries, but as you jump towards it, you'll notice the metal bar gives you a slight height boost. Eventually it'll push you high enough and you'll end up just going through the top part of the fence. You don't need to sprint-jump, or keep moving back and jumping forward, just jump continually against the fence from the top of the Ambulance and within a few seconds you should make it through.

Step 6: Grab A Boat

Head along the pier and you'll find a parked Rio boat. Stand near it and try to enter and you'll be teleported inside.

Step 7: Sail Away

Sail the boat out of the piers and head slightly to the South-West. You can safely exit the boat at the boatyard docks just South of the large ship. From there you're free to explore the West island. If you head to the North of the island you'll be able to grab a helicopter from the VCN helipad. You can purchase the "El Swanko Casa" safehouse for $1,000 and save your game on the island too.

Using this glitch this allows you to start the main story with the vast majority of the side content already completed, providing benefits like free weapons and ammo at your safehouse and plenty of cash, all without using a single cheat code!

You'll respawn back at the East island hospital if you die. If you want to get back without dying, grab a boat or find a helicopter to make your way back safely.
